Asia Rugby received applications from 32 countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Chinese Taipei, Guam, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Syria, Thailand, UAE, Uzbekistan and Vietnam. History of World Rugby 'Try and Stop Us'
World Rugby launched the campaign, alongside the Women In Rugby brand, in May, 2019, using the inspirational stories of 15 ‘Unstoppable’ women to normalise female participation and increase engagement.
The video that accompanied the launch has been watched more than 10 million times in the intervening 16 months.
As part of the three-year campaign, it was World Rugby’s intention to let regions and unions guide its second phase, lifting its profile locally in order to get people talking and boost participation numbers.
