Asia Rugby has launched the Game Changers programme, an innovative initiative aimed at amplifying the voices of women in rugby across Asia. This programme is a bold commitment to gender equity, empowerment, and the unearthing of untapped potential in a sport that is rapidly gaining traction worldwide.
A Vision for Inclusivity and Growth
The Game Changers programme hopes to rewrite narratives and foster a more inclusive landscape for women’s rugby. The initiative aims to inspire women at all levels—from grassroots players to international athletes, match officials, aspiring coaches, and leaders.
Central to this vision is the acknowledgement that women’s rugby in Asia is not just a sport; it’s a movement. Across the continent, young girls and women are lacing up their boots, defying stereotypes, and proving that rugby is a game for everyone. The Game Changer programme seeks to highlight these stories, ensuring that their achievements inspire future generations.
A Game Changer is more than a player—they are leaders, visionaries, and pioneers redefining rugby in Asia. From inspiring leaders to administrators driving progress behind the scenes, women are transforming the game at every level.
Highlighting Game Changers and Milestones
The programme will launch with a series of podcasts highlighting Asia’s Game Changers. With the countdown to the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 in England already generating excitement, more than 220,000 tickets have been sold for the event, guaranteeing it will be the best-attended women’s edition ever. Additionally, the Asia Rugby Emirates Women’s Championship will see significant attention as Japan’s women’s team uses it as a springboard for their preparation for the tournament.
