Asia Rugby’s Executive Committee (EXCO) convened virtually for an ad-hoc meeting and appointed Asanga Seneviratne and Vela Tan as Independent Officers. The EXCO has also confirmed the appointment of key chairpersons and introduced four new committees aimed at advancing Asia Rugby’s strategic goals.
Asia Rugby EXCO confirmed the following leaders to spearhead its committees:
Administration & Finance: Terence Khoo from Singapore
Advisory: Professor Zu’bi Al Zu’bi from Jordan
Athletes: Michael Leitch from Japan
Audit & Risk: Raju Lal from India
Competitions: Asanga Seneviratne from Sri Lanka
Development: Mohamad Jarkou from Syria
Digital Transformation: Gerald Prabhu from India
Ethics & Governance: Tanka Lal Ghising from Nepal
International Relations: Mirmehdi Hosseini from Iran
Judiciary: Ramesh Lachmanan from Malaysia
Match Officials: Rizwan Malik from Pakistan
Sport and Environment: Nalin De Silva from Sri Lanka
Sport for All: Sayeed Ahmed from Bangladesh
The Nominations Committee will be led by Vela Tan who will be assisting the committees’ chairpersons in refining and developing the relevant terms of reference and identifying competent committee deputies and members with an in-depth consideration to fair representation of the continent five sub-regions and improving the achieved 32% female inclusion across all committees.

Introducing four New Committees.
Asia Rugby EXCO has introduced four forward-looking committees to meet the evolving needs of the sport:
– International Relations Committee.
This committee will focus on managing international partnerships and aligning Asia Rugby’s international strategies with its overall goals.
Digital Transformation Committee.
The committee will drive Asia Rugby’s digital advancement by enhancing operational efficiency through technology and data monetization.
Sport for All Committee.
The Committee champions inclusivity and equal opportunities in rugby, ensuring participation for all, regardless of age, gender, ability, or socioeconomic background.
Sport and Environment Committee.
The committee promotes environmental sustainability within rugby, integrating environmental considerations into governance, events, and infrastructure while advocating for environmental stewardship.
