One of the longest bars in Asia, a reinvented South Stand, and new individual hospitality packages point towards an upgraded experience for fans at the Kai Tak Stadium.
[5 November 2024, Hong Kong]: Hong Kong China Rugby today opened ticket sales for the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2025, the first time that the event will be held in Hong Kong’s new 50,000-seat Kai Tak Stadium. The event will be held from 28-30 March 2025.
The 2024 Sevens was an unmissable moment for local residents, international visitors and rugby fans worldwide as the finale of a 30-year run at the Hong Kong Stadium.
2025 sees Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) deliver another once-in-a-lifetime occasion as the world’s biggest rugby party settles into its new home for the very first time at the Kai Tak Stadium.
With last year’s Sevens returning to its traditional sold-out status for the first time since the pandemic, the opening of the new stadium is perfectly timed.
As the first announced international sporting event to be held in the 50,000-seat arena – and given the tournament’s reputation as the world’s most famous rugby weekend – HKCR is hopeful that the opportunity to be at one of the first events at the stadium, as well as the increased stadium capacity of the venue, will draw thousands of new fans to experience Hong Kong’s biggest party in the city’s biggest stadium.
“Having recently announced that the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens will be held at the Kai Tak Sports Park in 2025, Hong Kong China Rugby is very pleased to be launching public ticket sales relating to the event. We hope that our fans will share our excitement regarding the additional experiences which will be available at the new venue.
“Our objective is to ensure that we retain the best of the Sevens traditions which have evolved over the years, whilst at the same time offering an opportunity for fans to create new memories and enjoy the benefits associated with an expanded and more modern venue” said Chairman of Hong Kong China Rugby, Mr Chris Brooke.
Following the record-breaking success of rugby sevens at the Olympic Games in Paris, the HSBC SVNS 2025 sees the stars of the sport make a thrilling return. Hong Kong will host the fifth round of SVNS 2025, following events in Vancouver, Perth, Cape Town and Dubai, which will kick off the Series on 30 November – 1 December 2024. World Rugby are set to confirm the remainder of the schedule shortly.
The Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2025 will feature a revolutionary new fan experience, including two new hospitality areas for Sevens afficionados, the South Stand SuperPass and the Captain’s Lounge.
True South Standers visiting Kai Tak will be delighted to know that rugby sevens’ most famous seating area will once again be ready and waiting for them – as Kai Tak reinvents the famed 18-and-older section from the Hong Kong Stadium. Those wanting to beat the queue can upgrade their Sevens experience with a South Stand SuperPass which includes entry into the Carlsberg Clubhouse and the South Deck (from an additional HK$750 per day). This General Admission ticket upgrade ensures admission to the South Stand and includes a free-flow drinks package, as well as access to the Clubhouse and Deck, which are situated on either corner of the South Terrace.
Captain’s Lounge tickets (HK$17,950) offer 3-day access into a 5-star business class lounge with free-flow drinks, gourmet buffet dining, waiter service, reserved seating in-stadium, and meet and greet opportunities with a variety of Hong Kong Sevens legends and official ambassadors.
The new stadium is the house that sevens built, with a design that incorporates changing rooms for up to 20 teams, the retained South Stand, and one of the largest sports bars in Asia with the longest bar top – a 100-metre terrace deck inside the stadium that is open to all ticket holders and promises an even bigger party throughout the weekend.
Ticket sales, which begin today, see HKCR freeze ticket prices at 2019 levels with a three-day event pass at HK$1,950 for adults, and a three-day event pass for children aged 12 and under at HK$950.
For newcomers to the rugby sevens, HKCR is also collaborating exclusively with renowned Hong Kong based travel agency KLOOK on selling single-day tickets to the event. A limited number of tickets will be available at HK$500 (Adult Friday), HK$1,200 (Adult Saturday), HK$1,200 (Adult Sunday), and HK$300 (Child Friday), HK$600 (Child Saturday), HK$600 (Child Sunday).
The Sevens’ general admission seating policy will remain in force, with tickets in all non-corporate or non-tournament seating areas inside the stadium being open on a first come, first served basis over the event weekend.
All tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis, and while supplies last.
