Asia Rugby has unveiled an action-packed schedule for the latter half of 2024, following a record-breaking Asia Rugby Championship that saw an increase in venue attendance and an impressive 2.5 million video views across broadcasts and social media.
The highly anticipated Asia Rugby Sevens Series returns with three exhilarating rounds, and the introduction of the Asia Rugby Sevens Challenge promises even more thrilling rugby action across the continent.
Asia Rugby Sevens Series Returns with Three Rounds
The Asia Rugby Sevens Series will kick off on September 7th at the Namdong Incheon Asiad Rugby Stadium in Incheon, Korea. With the success of past tournaments in Korea and Thailand, these locations have become regular fixtures on the Sevens Series calendar and are confirmed hosts for both the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
China, a significant player in the series, will host the second round on September 21-22 at the Hangzhou Normal University, a venue that hosted the very successful 2022 Asian Games.
The series features Asia’s top eight men’s and women’s teams, with the United Arab Emirates Women’s and Thailand Men’s teams, joining after winning last year the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy in Qatar.
The 2024 Series will see men’s and women’s teams from Japan, Hong Kong China, China, Malaysia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Korea (men), and Kazakhstan (women).

The season will culminate with thrilling fifteens action in December. The Asia Rugby U19 Championship, featuring the future stars of Asian rugby, will be hosted by Chinese Taipei from December 18-22. The tournament act as a qualifier for the World Rugby U20 Trophy 2025, Additionally, the Asia Rugby Women’s Division 1 will take place in India from December 13-21, where India will compete against Malaysia and United Arab Emirates, This will be the debut for the Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates women fifteens teams promising intense matches and showcasing the growth of women’s rugby in the region.
