The Japan Rugby Football Union has announced the Sakura Sevens 22-member training squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics Rugby Sevens Tournament. Taking place at Stade de France, the home of French Rugby, the tournament will see 12 teams take part in both the men’s and women’s competitions. The men’s tournament, in which Japan has also qualified, will run from 24 to 27 July, with the women’s competition following from 28 to 30 July.

In the lead up to the Olympic Games, the Sakura Sevens will continue to compete in the two remaining legs of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, in Singapore and Madrid. In addition, the squad will assemble for domestic training camps in Okinawa, Kumagaya and Hokkaido in the months leading up to the tournament. The squad will also head to Australia for a training and preparation tour from June 14-23.
The final 12-member Sakura Sevens Olympic Team is scheduled to be announced in late June, early July, with the team set to depart Japan for France on July 15.
