Asia Rugby Reveals Panel to Determine Asia Rugby Award Recipients
The eagerly anticipated Asia Rugby Annual Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 25th November in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The event will align with the Asia Rugby Council Meeting and Executive Committee Meeting set for the 25th and 26th of November in the capital of Uzbekistan.
Nominees across four distinct categories will be under consideration:
- Asia Rugby Distinguished Services Award
- Asia Rugby Award for Character
- Asia Rugby Women’s Rugby Development Award
- Asia Rugby Carlson Lin Match Officiating Award
A distinguished panel has been assembled for the crucial task of determining the awardees. This panel is chaired by Asia Rugby Vice President, Mr. Vela Tan; and supported by Asia Rugby EXCO members, Mr. Kakhramon Djalilov, Ms. Nahid Biyarjomandi, Mr. Jaesub Choi, and Mr. Sahapol Polpathapee; Chair of the Asia Rugby Advisory Committee, Prof. Zubi Al Zubi; Asia Rugby Advisory Committee member Dr. Trisha Leahy; and Asia Rugby CEO, Mr. Benjamin van Rooyen.

They will select the winners for both 2022 and 2023, the 2022 awards ceremony having been deferred due to the absence of an in-person Council Meeting by Asia Rugby during that year.
Asia Rugby Award Categories
Award for Character*
The Award for Character honours an individual, union or group who, have shown an outstanding display of character which embodies the true values of rugby: integrity, respect, solidarity, passion and discipline.
*New Award in 2015 replacing the Spirit of Rugby and Development Awards.
Distinguished Service Award
Awarded to an individual, Union or group, male or female, who has given outstanding service to their country and contributed to the International Game in as many as possible of the following areas:
- Playing
- Coaching
- Management
- Training
- Administration
Women’s Rugby Development Award
This award is for an individual or a group, who have achieved outstanding success in the development of Women’s Rugby at any level of the Game and within any or all of the following spheres:
- Playing
- Coaching
- Match Officiating
- Administration
- Training
- Capital Development
- Rugby related volunteer or charity initiatives
- Promoting the Game
- Raising awareness of the Game
“Carlson Lin” Match Officiating Award
This award is given to an individual, male or female, who has given outstanding service to their country and/or Asia Rugby in the field of Match Officiating and who has helped promote the spirit and ethos of the game in a manner befitting the late “Carlson Lin”.
