Osaka Confirmed as Rugby Sevens Host City for the Asian Qualifiers for Paris 2024 Olympics
Japan men got the silver medal after losing to Hong Kong China in the final, while a much-improved Malaysia men’s team secured the bronze medal after defeating Korea.
Furthermore, the final series standings played a pivotal role in determining the five teams that have earned qualification for the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series. These deserving teams include:
Hong Kong China and Japan in the men’s series.
Given that Japan’s women’s team already hold a spot in the Sevens series, the next three top-three finishing teams, namely Hong Kong China, China, and Thailand, have secured the three available spots allocated for Asia.
With the Asia Rugby Regional Qualifier on the horizon, all teams have used this last leg to help with their preparation for the event that will be played in Osaka, Japan on 18 and 19th November 2023.
Next up Asia Rugby will be hosting the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy, Qatar 7s in Doha on the 3rd and 4th of November.
