As the Asia Rugby Men’s Championship concluded, all eyes are now focused on an exhilarating sevens season in Asia, with seven major tournaments lined up for the second half of 2023.
The action-packed sevens season will kick off with the Asia Rugby U20 Men’s and Women’s Sevens, hosted by the Nepal Rugby Association on August 19-20. The picturesque valley of Kathmandu has become a must-visit destination for players and fans after the highly successful hosting of the U18 boys’ and girls’ 7s in 2022.
Next up is the Asia Rugby Sevens Series, starting with the first leg hosted by the Korea Rugby Union in Incheon on August 26-27. The excitement will then move to Bangkok, Thailand, for the second and final leg hosted by the Thai Rugby Union on October 14-15. Singapore’s men’s and women’s teams will re-join the series after securing promotion by winning the 2022 Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy in Indonesia.
Chinese Taipei will take the spotlight as they host the Asia Rugby U18 Boys and Girls 7s in Taoyuan on September 30 to October 1.
Fans can look forward to the highly anticipated Asian Games, with the Rugby 7s event scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, China, from September 24th to 26th at the Hangzhou Normal University Cangqian Athletics Field, showcasing top-level rugby action.
The Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy will be contested in Doha, Qatar, on November 3-4, where the two winners of the Trophy will earn promotion to the 2024 Sevens Series.
The epic sevens season will conclude with the Olympic Qualification tournament scheduled for Kitakyushu, Japan, on November 18-19. With two winners getting direct tickets to Paris 2024.
