The wait is over! Asia Rugby kicks off the Sevens calendar

  • Asia Rugby confirms the final dates of the Asia Rugby Men’s and Women’s Sevens tournament in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
  • West Asia Rugby Men’s and Women’s Sevens Trophy is confirmed in Doha, Qatar.

Asia Rugby Men’s and Women’s Sevens tournaments will be held in the United Arab Emirates on the 19th and 20th of November, 2021. This event will act as Asian Qualifiers for the Rugby World Cups 7’ 2022 to be held in South Africa and as a ranking tournament for the Asian Games 2022 which will be held in Hangzhou – China next year.

A mouthwatering month ahead in which the top 8 Men’s and 8 Women’s Sevens teams from Asia, as well as the world, will be featured in the United Arab Emirates with the Asian Qualifiers followed by back-to-back Emirates Dubai 7s events scheduled for 26th and 27th November followed by 3rd to 4th December 2021.

In accord with Asia Rugby’s ‘Return To Play’ strategy, preparations for the Sub-Regional 7s tournaments announced earlier are in full swing. As an update and owing COVID19 implications, the West Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy that was to be hosted by the Lebanese Rugby Union Federation in Beirut during the current month has been moved to be hosted by Qatar Rugby Federation in Doha on the 8th and 9th of October 2021.

Asia Rugby’s Secretary General, Qais Abdulla Dhalai joins QRF President, Yousef Al Kuwari in presiding over today’s official draw for the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy 2017 – Doha.

Heading into these major events, with players welfare set as paramount, Asia Rugby has conducted Training and Education courses in all strands virtually, targeting the specific needs of each region and ensuring safe Return to Play.

Asia Rugby is witness this week a face to face training courses in Tashkent only a few days away from the start of the Asia Rugby U18 Girls Sevens tournament in Uzbekistan and will continue the physical engagement training courses in every staged event across the region.

Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy Series

  •  West Asia Rugby Men’s and Women’s Sevens Trophy will be hosted by Qatar in Doha in October.
  •  South and Central Asia Rugby Men’s and Women’s Sevens Trophy will be hosted by Uzbekistan in Tashkent in October.
  •  East and South-East Asia Rugby Men’s and Women’s Sevens Trophy will be hosted by Thailand in Phuket in November.
