Rugby 7’s Club Championship and Snow Rugby to be shown in Dubai
As part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in February 2020, a working meeting between the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Russian Rugby Federation, Igor Artemyev and the President of the Asia Rugby, Qais Al Dhalai took place.

Welcoming the guest, Igor Artemyev stressed that cooperation with Asia Rugby unions is the most important area of international cooperation of the Rugby Union of Russia: “Taking into account the geography of our country, we plan to make Siberia, the Far East and Primorye centers of rugby development.”
This is possible only with constant playing and joint practice with the best clubs and national teams of Asian countries. For example, from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan Mongolia and other countries. Territorial proximity and the availability of the necessary sports infrastructure make our initiatives quite promising for Asian countries”.
In this regard, the parties discussed the possibility of the establishment and organization of the Asian Rugby 7s Champions Cup, which is planned to be held in Russia in the fall of 2021.

The final games of the Cup planned to be held in Vladivostok, Krasnoyarsk and Khabarovsk. Both parties committed to exploring the possibilities thoroughly amidst the operational and financial effects that the Covid pandemic has imposed on Unions.
Qais Al Dhalai was further interested in the development prospects and potential of Beach and Snow rugby, in which Russia is the European leader.
The possibility of holding a Snow Rugby presentation tournament in the indoor ski complex “Ski Dubai” at the Mall of the Emirates in 2021 on the week before the popular Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens Tournament one the World Sevens Series, was discussed.
An agreement was reached to return to the issue of the possibility of holding the Asian Championships in Beach and Snow Rugby utilizing the experience of holding such competitions in Moscow.
