Asia Rugby President Aga Hussain visits Iran
Asia Rugby President, Aga Hussain, recently visited Iran to meet with many people and organisations including the Iran Rugby Federation.
Iran recently finished second in the Asia Rugby Championship Division III West after a defeat to Lebanon in the final, and Hussain also visited the National Olympic Committee during his visit.
With Iran a major player in Get Into Rugby for Asia Rugby, the visit allowed Hussain to visit many players at Azadi Stadium.
“We see a lot of potential in the growth of rugby in Iran,” said Hussian.
“We would like to support Iran to become a full member of World Rugby in the very near future.”
As well as the NOC and IRF, Hussian also visited the President of the Federation of Sports and Ms. Dr. Mohammadiyan, the Women’s Sports Development Deputy for the Ministy of Sport.
“The visit to Iran was a big success,” added Hussain.
“All the meetings were all very positive, with a great amount of interest generated towards the sport and support for future rugby activities in the country.
“The efforts to popularise the game by The Iran Rugby Federation is highly commendable.
“With communication now a lot better, all the good work being carried out by the Federation will be better highlighted henceforth.”
