The Indian Women’s Rugby team will compete in the Asia Rugby U20 Sevens Series, to be held in Hong Kong, China on 4th & 5th August 2017. #ARU20SSW
The team is supported by Societe Generale, the financial partner of Rugby India and is participating under the aegis of the Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU), the governing body for the sport of Rugby in India.
A total of seven countries from across Asia including China, Thailand, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Singapore, India and hosts Hong Kong will vie for top honors at the championships.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Mahesh Mathai, Secretary General, Rugby India said, “We are proud of our U18 Girls Rugby team’s performance at the Paris World Games Rugby Sevens. It was the first time an Indian Girls team participated in an international competition outside of Asia.
The focus of Rugby India going forward is to strengthen Women’s Rugby in India. With the 2018 Asian Games in sight, we are investing in a high performance plan for Women athletes. This tournament is a platform that will offer great exposure and experience to our women athletes and help them perform well in the 2018 Asian Games.

The players shortlisted to join the Indian National Training Camp were selected during the Federation Cup Rugby Sevens held in Bhubaneswar and National Pre Training camp held Kolkata.
The following 12 players are selected from across India to represent the nation at the Asia Rugby U20 Sevens Series in Hong Kong.
